I like it because it brings me fantastic energy, strength and radiance, allowing me to effortlessly manifest, love and lift others. With it’s special blend of movement, stretching, breathwork, chanting, meditation and relaxation, you too can shine like the sun!

TELL ME MORE?

Known as the ‘yoga of awareness’, it’s a form of yoga to awaken one’s kundalini energy to empower personal change, and improve physical and mental health for a fully expressed life.
It’s is a system of physical exercises, pranayama (breathing exercises), yogic mantra chanting (sound vibration) and meditation, to dissolve layers of tension (stress, pain, anger or fear) into light, emotional freedom and natural happiness.
It is often referred to as the yoga for people who think they can’t do yoga due to fitness or flexibility due to it’s emphasis on breath and energy.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

In Kundalini Yoga there is little emphasis on form/posture but more a whole body workout with a focus on awakening, emotional healing and raising energy. Kundalini is latent energy within all living things, and within the human body it lays dormant. As you safely and gradually raise this energy up the spine, you feel alive, fully expressed and radiant. The practice quickly brings the body into optimum balance by harmonizing the nervous system and glandular system, liberating energy up the spine through the chakras and body to release stress and old tensions.

WHAT IS A CLASS LIKE?

Opening – chanting the mantra ‘Ong Nama Guru Dev Namo’ (calling upon the Divine wisdom within and around)
Warm Up – physical and breath exercises
Yoga Kriya – a sequence of physical and breath exercises, chanting and meditations designed for a specific effect
Deep Relaxation – to rejuvenate and harmonize
Meditation – breath or chanting of yogic mantras

We tend to practice with our eyes closed to enjoy a meditative practice. You choose your pace.

WHY DO WE PRACTICE KUNDALINI YOGA?

The practice awakens your spirit giving you a deep sense of your spirituality, and grace to handle modern day life. It helps you to realize your potential, living your dharma and expressing freely your true nature, which in turn contributes towards a collective evolution of consciousness. Happiness is our birthright, and to be happy we have to liberate ourselves from old sadness, anger, fear to let our energy flow and be clear, KY aAllows you to manage stress better, to be free, natural and real, self reliant. To Be You.

Practitioners call Kundalini Yoga “the yoga of awareness” because it focuses on the expansion of sensory awareness and intuition in order to raise individual consciousness and merge it with the Infinite consciousness. As a form of yoga and meditation and a foundation for spirituality — practiced properly, Kundalini Yoga’s purpose is to raise the creative potential of a human being to develop universal values, speak truth, and share the compassion and consciousness needed to serve and heal others.

WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?

Kundalini Yoga was introduced from India in 1969 by Master Yogi Bhajan help the Western World cope with increasing stress and information overload. Yogi Bhajan wanted ordinary people to be able to live a spiritual, fearless and joyful life.

HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER FORMS OF YOGA?

In Kundalini Yoga is less emphasis on form/posture. instead we do kriyas – sequences of physical exercises, dynamic and held postures, pranayama (breath exercises), chanting and meditation. It’s the science of awakening life force energy.

Kundalini Yoga works very quickly to balance the physical and emotional body, rejuvenate the nervous system helping you manage stress better and relax. Sometimes the effects of Kundalini Yoga can be felt as quickly as 3 minutes, but with practice the brain is reconditioned with healthy patterns to produce lasting change.

Kundalini Yoga awakens your spirit giving you a deep sense of your spirituality, and grace to handle modern day life. It’s simple, effective and inclusive and can be practiced by pretty much everyone due to it’s emphasis on the breath. With it’s special blend of movement, stretching, breathwork, chanting, meditation and relaxation, you’ll shine like the sun!

IS IT DANGEROUS?

No! Kundalini energy runs through the whole of creation. It is what a flower uses to blossom, and it is what we use to awaken our authentic self which is relaxed, expansive, creative and unlimited.  You do need to have a body and nervous system that is prepared to manage this energy.

“Creation is ready to serve you, if you just be you”
~Yogi Bhajan
